Basic Pitch is a free and open source audio-to-MIDI converter developed by Spotify. It allows you to simply record or drag and drop an audio file of a single instrument, and the tool will automatically generate a MIDI version. The MIDI file can then be opened in your favorite DAW or audio editing program. This is also a super handy way for piano players to extract MIDI files from their favorite pieces – so that they may learn them in MIDI visualization programs like Synthesia!
